Meet our Doctors

Our Philosophy

At Periodontics Incorporated, the oldest periodontal practice in the state (circa 1962). Drs. Fertik and Broderick (partners since 1999) strive to provide excellence in dental implant and periodontal care in a caring and comfortable environment. We take pride in our ability to educate every patient and address their questions, while ensuring their comfort throughout treatment. We also strive to enable our patients to make educated decisions, achieve their goals, and to reach excellent results and healing.

Dr. Scott Fertik


Dr. Fertik grew up in Ithaca, NY. He has made Rhode Island his home for over 24 years after attending Hamilton College graduating Cum Laude in 1982. He attended dental school at the University of Buffalo, where he developed his interest in Periodontics. Dr. Fertik went on to general practice residency for one year at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital/Rutgers Medical Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then proceeded to postdoctoral training at Boston University School of Dental Medicine finishing periodontics in 1989.


Following his education, Dr. Fertik moved to Rhode Island and joined the oldest periodontal practice in the state (circa 1964). He is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and is also a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy (an International Dental Honor Society), the Providence District Dental Society, and the Rhode Island Dental Association. These memberships, along with a strong commitment to continuing education, allow him to remain current with the latest technological, scientific and clinical advancements in periodontology. He has volunteered for the Mission of Mercy, a local organization to help those in need, to receive proper dental care.


Dr. Fertik spends much of his spare time participating in family and community activities. He has been married to his wife, Lisa for 30 years, and their son, Maxwell is currently attending graduate school at RISD.  Dr. Fertik has numerous outside interests such as, skiing, tennis, swimming, hiking, practicing yoga, theater, travel, and live music.


Dr. John Broderick


Dr. Broderick grew up in central Massachusetts. He has made Northern Rhode Island his home for the past 14 years, after attending University of Lowell graduating in 1991 with his Bachelor and Master's Degree in Science. He attended dental school at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine receiving his general dentistry degree in 1996. He then went on to continue his periodontic residency in 1999.


He is an active member of the American Board of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Rhode Island Dental Association and the Greater Woonsocket Dental Association. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology.


Dr. Broderick spends his spare time reading and participating in physical fitness activities including hiking and walking his two Maltese puppies, Lexi and Sophia. He is now the proud father of a little boy, Jace, born in March 2015. He has volunteered for the past three years for the Mission of Mercy, a local organization to help those in need to receive proper dental care. He has been married to his wife, Kim, since 2007.


He joined the practice of Periodontics, Incorporated in 1999 and works with Dr. Fertik in both offices to provide excellence in dental implant and periodontal care for every patient in a caring and gentle manner.

Dr. Erica Kleinbaum


Education:

Dr. Erica Kleinbaum grew up in Westchester County, New York. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science Studies from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut and her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry Degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She remained at Tufts as a “double jumbo” by completing her post-Doctoral residency training limited to Periodontics and Implant surgery with a certification in Minimal Sedation and Nitrous Oxide. She is board certified in Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery by the American Board of Periodontology. She also licensed to practice the LANAP Protocol for periodontal surgery and to treat gum disease.


Experience:

Dr. Kleinbaum pursued many passions during her time in training at Tufts. Throughout her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at Tufts, she participated in many clinical and academic teaching opportunities. In her final year, Dr. Kleinbaum served as the chief resident for her department, working closely with her faculty and peers. She has remained on board at Tufts as a faculty member in the Periodontology Department, instructing dental students with their patients on the clinical floors.


Continuing Education:

Dr. Kleinbaum is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), and Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS). Dr. Kleinbaum is passionate about providing quality care and education to her patients in a calm and comfortable environment.

Practice Limited to Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery:

Dr. Kleinbaum is passionate about the scope of periodontics which serves as the overall foundation of the smile. She performs a series of treatments to create a smile that is functional, esthetic and comfortable. She offers services such as:

-     Tooth extractions

-     Socket grafting and bone augmentation

-     Immediate implant placement

-     Conventional implant placement

-     Sinus grafting

-     Gum grafting

-     Treatment of Periodontal Disease

-     LANAP© Protocol – Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure utilizing the only FDA cleared laser treatment to treat gum disease using the PerioLase MVP-7 by Millennium Dental Technologies


Passions:

In her spare time, Dr. Kleinbaum enjoys going to the beach and spending time on Cape Cod. She likes exploring New England with her husband, Austin, and their rescue Vizsla, Larry, who accompanies her on all her adventures. She is an avid biker who loves her Peloton, an amateur photographer of lighthouses, and an excellent baker. Residing in Canton, Massachusetts, she is excited to be between the two beautiful cities of Boston and Providence. She is excited to make Rhode Island her dental home.
